How to make a woodland loo

Charles Fraser

Here is the simplest way I have found to make a loo in the woods where I live. This method is clean and odor free and provides compost for an edible woodland shade tollerant shrub when finished.

With a loo like this you need to have a bin of woodchips to throw in after your business and paper. Keeping urine seperate, by blessing the other trees is totally sterile and a golden firtilizer for the rest of the forest garden. Mixing ones and twos is smelly and vegan poos are much much less toxic and smelly in the first place.

Step one, take down the last wind break / privacy shelter around your loo frame once the previous hole is nearly full!

This last woodland loo lasted about a year and a half!

Frame is cords of wood that hold together by gravity and a couple of screws

Dig a new hole about thigh depth long and wide but narrow enough so you can fit a loo frame over it.

Backfill old loo hole and plant a shade loving plant, here Eleagnus Ebingia or Autumn Olive.

Those Autumn olives will be resitant to your toxins and when you eat them you will also gain these resistant qualities

If you have any tips I'm all ears. This is just the easiest solution I have found. I have a tap with eco-friendly hand soap near by and am building a sink for the campers soon :0)

I hope this takes the fear of moving into nature away somewhat, it's so easy and my favorate loo on the planet.

Thanks

Charlie
